Jump 12: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Part 1: Good Morning Morioh-Cho

I awoke with a start, lying on a bench in the middle of the morning. Sitting up, a letter fell off my person, with “King” written on the front. Taking it into my hands, I opened it to discover that I had a key to a room at the Morioh Grand Hotel, my belongings were being kept there, and that I had the room paid off for the next few months. I shook the lingering tiredness from myself and instinctively looked around for my companions. It only took me moment to remember that I had left them behind this time, and a loneliness I had long since forgotten crept over me.

Putting the letter into my pocket I finally realized that my clothing was different. A black overcoat with the various emblem designs my companions made scattered about in a seemingly random, but stylish manner. Black jeans and a dark blue polo also adorned my frame. Deciding not to question it further, I checked the surrounding area and found myself conveniently by a bus stop. I saw a kid with pretty ridiculous hair crouching by a fountain and looking warily at a turtle. With no one else around, I figured I’d ask him how to get to the hotel.

“Hey, you there.”

“Huh? Who, me?” The boy looked a bit confused.

“I don’t see anyone else around.”

“Sorry, I was just distracted by this turtle that came out of hibernation. I’m trying to get over my fear of them.” A commendable thing to be doing.

“I see, then allow me to only take a few moments of your time. Do you know how to get to the Morioh Grand Hotel?

“Yeah, if you want to walk then…”

As he relayed the instructions to me other people began to arrive at the stop. A short kid wearing the same uniform as the one I was talking to, and a man dressed in an outfit so different than standard dress it’d be impossible not to recognize him again. It seemed like I wasn’t the only newcomer to this town, as he was also getting directions. I thanked the kid with the strange hair just in time for some seniors from his school to arrive. The reason I knew they were seniors is because they so rudely demanded a greeting from the shorter boy as they strode past. They went on to accost him and demand a greeting like with the smaller boy. I was going to say something but the boy decided on his own to try and avoid a confrontation. While I didn’t like what was going on I decided to leave it be. If the kid couldn’t or wouldn’t stand up for himself now, stepping in might not change anything once he goes to school. He had a look in his eyes that made me think he didn’t want to shatter the seniors’ pride.

Unfortunately, the way he went about it began like how our conversation did, with a mentioning of the turtle crawling on the fountain. The leader of the seniors didn’t take kindly to it and decided to make a point by throwing it on the ground, cracking the shell and causing it to bleed. I could have saved it, but revealing myself for something beyond human so soon would not have been a wise course of action. The boy didn’t seem concerned with the act of cruelty at first and my opinion of him would have changed had the leader of the four seniors not proceeded to insult his hair. This caused him to suddenly become enraged.

“Hey, senior! The fuck did you just say about my hair?” he said, sounding extremely angry.

By this point the boy had introduced himself to be one Josuke Higashikata when asked before hi sudden change in demeanor. The man in white reacted to the mention of his name, as if he had heard it before, but I couldn’t worry about that because Josuke suddenly summoned a disembodied arm to rapidly punch the senior in the face. The force of the blows sent him flying into his friends and his nose was quite clearly broken and a few teeth were missing. Josuke followed up by stomping his foot into the leaders head, pressing it into the ground while an aura surrounded his body. He then went to the turtle and picked it up, before tossing it into the fountain. The strange thing was, the turtle and the leader’s wounds were suddenly healed, although the leader’s face looked a bit different.

“I wasn’t planning on healing you… But since I healed the turtle what else would you like to look like?”

That was enough to send them running away in fear. I was left very confused at what I saw, and the tension in the atmosphere didn’t defuse. The tall man wearing white had been staring intensely at Josuke since he said his name, and Josuke had finally noticed. Surprisingly, it was the reemergence of the turtle from the fountain scaring Josuke that broke the tension.

The man in white proceeded to list off facts about Josuke such as his birthday, a time he was sick for forty days and his dad’s name. The name of his father really got Josuke to pay attention as the man went on to explain that Joseph Joestar had an affair with Josuke’s mother and was completely unaware that Josuke had been alive until recently.

“My name is Jotaro Kujo, and I’m supposed to be your nephew. Strange, isn’t it?”

This revelation shocked not only Josuke, but me and the remaining student from Josuke’s school. The two of them started walking off and something compelled me and other kid to follow behind. The two Joestar’s didn’t seem to mind that we were following them and Jotaro continued to explain the reason he was here in Morioh, the Joestar family’s inheritance. Josuke apparently was more worried about the state of the family than the fact that he had the right to a third of the fortune. It seemed like Jotaro was going to convince Josuke otherwise when some girls wearing the same uniform came and took Josuke’s attention away with their greeting. As they showered him with compliments Jotaro grew increaseingly frustrated until he snapped.

“Josuke, - I can call you Josuke right? We weren’t finished talking yet. You girls leave! You can talk about his stupid hair later.”

This got a reaction not only from the girls, but from Josuke as well.

“Hey Jotaro, the fuck did you say about my hair!?”

“Josuke wait-”

Before Jotaro could finish Josuke and the same disembodied arm emerged from Josuke and flew towards Jotaro with its fist clenched. Before it could reach him, Jotaro called an arm of his own and quickly punched Josuke in the face. Josuke fell to a knee, wiping the blood from the fresh cut on his face as the full body of the arm Jotaro summoned appeared besides Jotaro.

“You can see this right? This is called a Stand. Even Joseph Joestar has one. Only those with a Stand can see one, and you’ve had this ability since you were four.”

“I won’t let anyone badmouth my hair! I’m not even sure why I’m angry, but being angry is a part of your instincts right? I’m just following mine.”

Josuke showed no sign that he had heard Jotaro’s explanation and instead sent his “Stand” at Jotaro with full force.

“DORARARARARARARARARARARARARARARA!”

Josuke’s Stand unleashed a flurry of punches onto Jotaro’s and eventually broke through his guard, much to Jotaro’s surprise.

“What power, to even break through Star Platinum’s defense!”

“I guess you weren’t that good after all.”

It was all but guaranteed that Jotaro would take a direct hit, but somehow, Josuke only hit the air. Jotaro had gotten behind Josuke without any of us noticing and avoided Josuke’s stand, although his hat didn’t. Using the time Josuke was distracted, Jotaro punched him in the face with his own hand, ending him to the ground. His fangirls were worried and starting making a fuss over him, but Jotaro was through with the interruptions.

“Josuke! I’ve come to find you for two reasons. The first, being about the Joesatar family, and the other…” Jotaro produced a photo from his jacket and showed Josuke. “The other is this. Take a good look at this photograph. It was taken by Joseph Joestar’s stand and is a mental image of your school. There’s a threat looming in this town, and it’s getting closer to you.”

“This guy, or thing is in town?”

Jotaro produced another photo and handed it to Josuke to look at.

“Joseph was going to take a picture of you, but he showed up instead. It might have nothing to do with you, but better to be safe than sorry.” Jotaro showed the other kid the photo. “Koichi, you might not understand this, but if you ever see this man don’t get close to him. Calling the police is no good either. I plan on remaining in this town until I find him.” He pointed a finger at me. “I’d like you to come with me. You saw, didn’t you?”

I figured he was referring to the Stands and nodded my head before beginning to follow him.

“Wait! Just who is this guy?”

“I’ll see you tomorrow. Josuke, your power is very dangerous, don’t use it unless you have to.”

After we were some distance from Josuke and Koichi, Jotaro began to explain some things to me, and ask some questions as well. First he let me know the reason why the man in the photo, Angelo Katagiri. A despicable man that was known for multiple charges of rape, murder and other crimes. He spent twenty years in prison starting at the age of twelve before committing more crimes and being sentenced to death in the previous year. Somehow, against the odds, he remained alive for the twenty minutes and they rescheduled his execution. Two weeks after he escaped and is currently in Morioh. Jotaro believes he probably possess a Stand.

“But why tell me all of this?”

“You saw Star Platinum and Josuke’s Stand, didn’t you?” As he said this, Star Platinum materialized beside him.

“Yes, I did see them.”

“And you heard my explanation about Stands and their users. You have to have a Stand yourself. Mind if I see it? It might come in handy trying to apprehend Angelo.”

“I’ve never used or seen a Stand before in my life. I wouldn’t even know how to call it out if I had one.”

“Hmmm… Stands usually manifest when the user is stressed, in danger or feeling another emotion very strongly.” Jotaro stopped walking. “If you’re to be of any help, we need to unlock your Stand.”

“I’d never be able to live with myself if I stood by while this guy went around committing atrocities.”

“Good. Then that makes this part simple.”

Without warning Star Platinum threw a punch at me that I narrowly avoided, followed by another that I blocked with an arm. If it wasn’t for the cosmic energy and magical barriers, it probably could have been broken.

“Jotaro, what are you doing?!”

“Didn’t think I’d ever meet someone able to take a punch from Star Platinum with their arms. Then how about this? ORA!”

The next punch came even faster, but I was prepared for it and backed away in time. Jotaro’s expression did not change as he sent Star Platinum in for more attacks. To the best of my ability I blocked and deflected an inordinate amount of punches, but took a few good ones to the chest that sent me back. I wondered how much of this I could actually take without attempting to stop Jotaro with my own abilities.

“Try and defend against this! ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAOARA!”

Just like Josuke, Jotaro’s Stand was capable of unleashing a flurry of blows too fast for me to properly react to all of them. I was overwhelmed and sent flying. Luckily, thanks to Void Instant Movement, I was able to right myself in the air and land on my feet.

“Tch.”

Jotaro began to walk forward and sent Star Platinum to hit me with another barrage of punches, but I moved back with him. Star Platinum wasn’t able to reach me at this distance.

“If this is your way of trying to awaken my Stand it won’t work. I can do impossible things even without the use of a stand. We need to think of a different way to-”

Without warning Jotaro was in front of me and Star Platinum delivered a swift blow to my face with enough force to break through the few magic barriers I had put up. I was too stunned by how sudden it all was and still unwilling to use anything against Jotaro that he had time to say something.

“Yare yare daze (Good grief). I’m going to end up actually hurting you if you don’t hurry up and figure out what your Stand is.”

That pushed something in me and in response I used instant movement to get behind him and aim a roundhouse kick at his head. My foot was grabbed by Star Platinum, but I responded by sending electricity through it to the Stand. I wasn’t prepared for Jotaro to be shocked too, and he released my foot to cut off the flow. I increased the distance between us once again and watched him closely. I was tempted to cast a spell, but I knew that would be pushing it in this world. My conduit powers could potentially be passed off as something else, but some of the more combat related magic not so much.

“Before you get any ideas that wasn’t due to any-”

Again, Jotaro had closed the distance between us faster than a person using instant movement, and this time I was treated to what seemed to be the full force of Star Platinum’s power. Jotaro showed no mercy, and I was once again blown back by the barrage of punches sent my way. I had continued to underestimate Jotaro, and still hadn’t put up enough barriers, resulting in my face getting pretty beat up in the process.

“Ramses! Come forth!”

“What type of Stand is that?”

“He’s not a Stand Jotaro. Ramses is the manifestation of one of the many masks I wear going through life. He’s my Persona.”

I sent Ramses at Jotaro and Star Platinum met him halfway. The Persona and Stand were locked in a grapple, and seemed even in strength. But I knew that if my concentration began to waver for even a second, Star Platinum would send Ramses right back to my mind and I’d be unable to fight for a while. I used the time to start approaching Jotaro when for the third time, he suddenly was in front of me and started to pummel me with his own fists. While not as strong as his Stand’s, his punches still had impact since in my anger I hadn’t remembered to replace my magic barriers. I retaliated with punches of my own and after a while we were left at a stalemate. With my regeneration I would win the battle of attrition we were having and Jotaro had begun to notice that I didn’t look as beat up as I should have.

“You’re starting to piss me off with this. Where’s you’re Stand?”

“I don’t know. But I doubt you’ll be able to draw it out this way so please, stop trying.”

“ORA!” He threw another punch at my face that I let hit me. “ORA! ORA! ORA!”

I took some more hits and decided that this had to stop. I recalled Ramses and started to walk off.

“I’m tired of this, Mr. Joestar. I’m staying at the Morioh Grand Hotel if you want to find me.”

To my surprise, he didn’t act the way I expected him to, and sent Star Platinum at me again, while moving forward himself. Something inside of me snapped and I felt a foreign power well up inside of me. Before I could figure out what it was Jotaro tripped on a stray tree root and fell.

“Yare yare daze.” He gripped the front of his hat and sighed. “It looks like you’re Stand finally decide to come out.”

Looking over my shoulder I found my Stand staring intently at Jotaro.

“Now, to figure out what it doe-”

Before he could finish, Jotaro found his other foot caught in another root and had to carefully remove it before continuing to walk towards me. He didn’t get far before more obstacles presented themselves. Paper blown by the wind into his face, patches of dug up ground and more served to stop him from closing the distance.

“I think I have an idea. So are we done with this fight?”

“Yes. Please stop using your Stand.”

It wasn’t hard at all to dismiss my Stand, and felt a lot like recalling Ramses or my other two Personas. Once I stopped using it, Jotaro was no longer inconvenienced by random obstacles when he resumed approaching me.

“While we could only see a fraction of its power, your Stand could be quite dangerous if you explore its capabilities. You said you were staying at the Morioh Grand Hotel didn’t you?”

“Yes, I did.”

“So am I. Come with me, I’ll pay for a cab.”

I wasn’t in a walking mood anymore so I followed him. This would be the beginning of my bizarre stay in Morioh-Cho, and I could only assume it wouldn’t get any less so for the next ten years.

    2. Eloquence might not be your strong suit, Mr. Brando. Even if my Stand doesn't prove to be as outwardly useful as yours I'm sure I can combine itv with my other abilities for wondrous results. Thank you for your words D. - Future Jump King
