Jump 10: Devil Survivor - Days 2-3, No More Immortality for Thee.

Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-9GDsbBsL0 (Slightly unfitting, but this shall be the calm before the storm so to speak. Best place for it beside last part)
We survived another night without any demon attacks, although I think I sense some through the night that were considering it. The government was still playing up the poison gas lie, much to our chagrin. The Laplace mail for the day informed us that the Shomonkai would save some people, fifty others would be killed, and demon sightings would go on throughout the day. Saving fifty people might have proven challenging with Atsuro and Yuzu forcing me to constantly hold back, but it was of no concern to me.
Following the pattern of either witnessing interesting events or finding people of interest we saw Kaido and Gin talking and overheard some of their conversation. Gin apparently came across a COMP a customer left in his bar. It was most likely modded. Checking possible exits again for Yuzu’s sake we ran into a businessman named Honda. He seemed interested in our COMPs, but didn’t appear to know what they were. He told us how the route we were checking out was no good and asked us to share information we got with him if we met again. There was an airdrop with food, it was done very unprofessionally. The government wouldn’t even let SDF distribute food and leave, it gave everyone a bad feeling.
The next person we met between fights with demons was Atsuro’s middle school tutor, Mari Mochizuki. She graduated nursing school and became an elementary school nurse. She had some valuable insight into human nature and civilization. We parted ways, promising to try and stay rational when the chaos begins. Following this, we spotted Kaido and Honda speaking with one another. It seemed like Honda was trying to learn more about COMPs.
Continuing our wandering, we ran into some yakuza thugs with COMPs. The fools actually thought they could mask their weakness with the power of the demons, but Atsuro and Yuzu handled them while I gave orders as per usual. Atsuro has really taken to the little martial arts I taught him. A normal person would probably be at a major disadvantage against him now. Yuzu’s magical prowess continues to grow as well. I told them not to destroy the COMPs we took from the thugs. I figured they’d come in handy at a later time.
After the battle we ran into a journalist named Shoji who wanted to interview us. We answered her questions and she gave us information on a possible exit. A tunnel connecting to the subway system. We took some time to prepare before checking her information, and when we got to the tunnel there were demons swarming about. It was a breeze directing Atsuro and Yuzu when they seemed to be struggling against a particular demon and eventually all of the demons were defeated. Curiously enough, the demons were learning how to set up mini portals for their allies from discarded COMPs. A few well-placed lightning bolts put a stop to any extra demons coming through though.
Before we could enter the tunnel some specially dressed SDF soldiers came out and pointed guns at us. I could tell they weren’t about to listen to us and we retreated. I may be immune to bullets, but those two aren’t. Implanted memories or not, those two are still my best friends here. After getting some more advice from Mari and finding out that Haru is being targeted by demons and thost that follow them, we found ourselves in another battle. This time with Kaido and Honda’s assistance. They just wanted the macca that the demons drop to get better ones in the auction. With my leadership Yuzu and Atsuro beat most of them, and made Kaido angry in the process. He wanted to know why I wasn’t doing anything, and I got under his skin a bit by telling him it wouldn’t be fair if I fought too. He was definitely pissed off, but also impressed I had the courage to talk to someone with his reputation like that. It takes all types to make the world after all.
We encountered Honda later in the day as he was trying to persuade a SDF guard to let him through the blockade. Apparently his son is in the hospital and having an operation soon. He looked very desperate to go see him. I felt bad for the guy and when he came to talk to us I couldn’t help but promise to help him go see his son if we couldn’t find an exit in a day or two. Something in his eyes told me he put more hope into my words than anyone I had ever met. Kaido was the next person we saw again. He wanted to know if we had any info on the bloodless murders. He thought the rumors of it being committed by a vampire were probably true since he knew demons existed now. It seemed someone close to him was a victim. We promised to let him know if we found anything out.
Shortly afterwards demons were attacking some civilians and we stopped them before they could get to Shiba Park where mases of people were gathered. There were more headed there, so once we saved the people in front of us we rushed over. Amane, however, was already on the case. She summoned a goddess and dealt with the demons. A bit unfair how she had access to a demon that was a goddess while we mostly had the ones that scared people.
We witnessed a conversation between Mari and Kaido. It seems the person that Kaido wanted to avenge was close to Mari as well. They were arguing over her getting involved in trying to find the killer.
The last eventful thing to occur that day was saving the fifty people mention in the Laplace mail. Keisuke and Midori were among the possible victims. The demons weren’t that hard for us the deal with. After seeing how I instructed Yuzu and Atsuro, Keisuke agreed to follow my directions as well. Everyone was saved and nobody was even hurt. I let the others discuss the lockdown and didn’t stop Midori from taking one of our spare COMPs. She wanted to be a hero like us too. When she ran off Keisuke chased after her since she seemed a bit too reckless. We found a place to sleep for the night, and after responding to a few emails, went to sleep.
The only thing the Laplace mail told us in the morning was that the immortal Beldr would be revived and his resurrection would result in over 300 casualties. Beldr is a name the demons had been throwing around the other day and seemed to be the master of a lot of them. Keisuke found us and let us know that Midori’s Death clock had decreased to one from the max of five it was last we say her. He was worried about her, but not confident in himself enough to try changing her fate alone. We let him join us and promised to help Midori when we could.
We ran into Mari and Shoji separately and learned a little bit more about Kaido (or Tadashi as we found out) and the lockdown. Afterwards we checked out the Akasaka tunnel again and got pretty far into it before one of the SDF soldiers from the other day found us and help us at gunpoint. She seemed to think that because we could summon demons, we were the cause of the entire demon infestation. I eased my way towards her and activated my Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, to destroy her gun before she could even blink. I created ball of electricity in my hand and gave her a warning not to point dangerous things at my friends again. When I was sure she got the message we had a more civil conversation about the state Tokyo was in. She had a Death Clock, so I gave her more trust than the average SDF soldier. She gave us what information she could and I agreed that we’d go back through the tunnel. We discussed the fact that there was no exit to the lockdown, and I got them motivated to try and prevent the disaster that would occur in four days.
We saw Naoya and tried following him, but instead came across a Gigolo that recognized me and knew about Naoya, the death clocks, and Beldr. He gave us some advice on how to get past his immortality, and vanished soon afterwards. Atsuro thought he saw someone he knew as we wandered the streets, but could catch up with him. This old friend went missing and sent him a cryptic message before then. The plot continued to get thicker. Kaido saw us roaming and pulled me aside to ask for some advice about who to get Mari to like him. He, his brother and Mari were all childhood friends, but Mari still treats him like a younger brother. I told him to save her from danger and he seemed to like the idea.
Haru was in danger…again, so we took the time to rescue her from the Demons that were after her. Her death clock gained another day, which meant she would probably need saving again the next day, but it was better than worrying about her when an immortal demon would be trying to kill me. I found her again during our wandering and got to chat with her for a bit. Heard some of her life story and tried to help her feel at ease. It went pretty well, and she was looking forward to the next time we’d meet.
With our luck we managed to find Midori just as she was rushing to save some normal people from demons and joined her efforts, planning on telling her to ease up a bit afterwards. But never in a million years did I expect my luck to be so good. Beldr, the immortal, made an early appearance while I was directing everyone in battle. It was as if God himself felt like speeding up my plans. I forced everyone back and probably looked a bit like an evil villain as I made my way towards Beldr. Being in a contract that makes everything in existence unable to harm him made it all too easy for him to let his guard down, if it was ever up in the first place. He tried using some magic on me, but that had the expected results. Then he decided to try getting physical. His speed was laughable and I utilized instant movement to make him angry that he couldn’t hit me. Then I went to end it. Focusing on him, I activated my mystic eyes and used the Flash Sheath technique to cut most of his limbs off with the Devil’s Fuge I had on me. Deactivating my eyes, I gave him some mercy by not killing him completely. With enough time he could try resurrecting again, albeit probably without limbs. I dealt the final blow and felt some kind of power flow within me. The power…of a Bel. Our death clocks rose to three.
Everyone was surprised that I took down an immortal being with what appeared to be a plant I had been storing in my pocket. It took some convincing, but I managed to get them to believe I defeated Beldr mostly due to the COMP limiting even his abilities. I convinced Midori she’d be doing more good by sticking with us instead of going off on her own and she reluctantly agreed. While we were walking through the city we saw people running from demons, and Atsuro found the friend that had gone missing. He had a very deep wound on his back and his death clock read zero. While Atsuro and him talked I quickly contacted Alice using our pactio. She was close, but not close enough to save Atsuro’s friend. He left Atsuro a COMP containing data information on the conspiracy he discovered. I took the COMP and told Atsuro I’d come back with it unlocked. Changing into my Navi form for the first time in ages, I entered the COMP and unlocked it by messing around with the programs inside. Atsuro read through the information and what he discovered was a surprise. The government had enacted the PSE law to ensure most all electronics had remote-controlled electromagnetic devices inside them. If they were to all be activated at the same time, everyone in the affected area would essentially be in a microwave and die. Demons would most likely be affected by this as well. It was pretty shocking stuff, but there was nothing we could do about it now but stop the lockdown before it came to that.
While we walked and discussed things we happened upon Kaido and Honda. Somehow Yuzu and Kaido ended up arguing with each other and making a bet about who could defeat the most demons that were around us. Kaido and Honda against all fivr of us if I wanted. Finding the entire thing stupid, I accepted and decided to show off a bit for a change and took them both on myself. Kaido thought I was just being overconfident, but when I combined magic arrows with my Mystic Eyes all the demons were gone before anyone could blink. Kaido was left in such rage and despair that he managed to summon a powerful demon without the use of his COMP, Pazuzu. I stopped using my Mystic Eyes and just beat Pazuzu before anyone could make sense of what was going on, Pazuz included. Instant movement, and magically infused strikes will catch most off guard. I offered Kaido a place in the group I was forming, telling him he had potential. He felt he had no choice but to respect my strength and joined without too much argument. I told Honda I needed two days at most to get him safely out of the lockdown, and he agreed not to start any trouble in the meantime.
With everyone in tow I planned on introducing them to the others, but that was delayed by Shomonkai members gone rogue. We outnumbered them, and beat them before Amane arrived to deal with them. She could tell I had already defeated Beldr and was very surprised, but managed to compose herself again and thank us for stopping the renegade Shomonkai members. Afterwards everyone in my little army got to finally meet each other.
“The name’s Leo. Nice to meet you.”
“Alice. I’m better than all of you, so don’t get in my way.”
“My name is Karen. Please excuse Alice, she’s actually pleased to meet you, as am I.”
“Bruce. Show me your moves sometime. Any friend of his has to be good in a fight.”
“They call me Sgt. Shock, but just call me Shock for short. I can’t wait to fight alongside you guys!”
“I’m Flyer, nice to meet you all.”
“Call me Psychic. I believe it would benefit us all to get along.”

Introductions went smoothly enough, and while everyone was getting along I snuck off to see that Gigolo again. Once I found him, he seemed impressed I was still alive. As a reward, he told me about the War of Bel, who I had left to defeat if I was to become King of Bel, and that Bellial would be after me in three days. I thanked him and went back to the others. It didn’t matter where we went to sleep, since Alice and I could craft barriers, and I was less inclined to hide my powers, so we all got to sleep well for the day to come.
