Jump 7: Mahou Sensei Negima! - Class 2: The Vampire Makes Her Move

Mahora is a really lively place.

There’s always something going on!

Everyone seems to generally have a good time as well.

There were plenty of little incidents here and there as the days rolled by.  Firstly, Asuna discovered that Negi is a mage.  This was a troubling fact to learn, but as long as it was just Asuna things would be ok.  Unfortunately it seemed like Negi was unconsciously trying to reveal his secret.  There was the love potion fiasco, dodge ball game against the seniors of class 2-D and the trip to Library Island in the hopes of class 2-A no longer being the worst class in the academy certainly made things interesting.  I was afraid Negi and the others wouldn’t make it back from Library Island, or at least not in time for the exam.

I was a part of the communication team for the trip through Library Island.

I wasn’t told about all of that until after the fact mind you, so I was shocked when I learned that Negi would be dropped as a teacher if 2-A was the last class in the rankings again.  Alice and Karen both scored above average, and even the so called “Baka Rangers” managed to score above 60 collectively.

There was also a party for getting the top ranking thrown by the class.

Chisame got embarrassed by the brat.

Then there was the whole Evangeline episode that-

Don’t you speak badly of mistress Evangeline!

But…she sucked my blood and turned it into power to attack Negi.

A minor detail!

Evangeline finally showed her true nature as a vampire and began attacking students, Karen being one of them.  Negi confronted her, and while her magic power was sealed to the point he could outclass her, Chachamaru proved to be too much for him to handle.  Asuna and I came to Negi’s rescue, and the two fled.  After that a talking ermine named Kamo made his way to the school.  After he tried tricking Negi into forming a pactio I had an idea.  If I could convince Alice and Karen to form a pactio with me Kamo could provide the necessary components and I’d have the ministras I needed as a magister magi.

It took a lot of convincing for me to accept.

I didn’t mind as long as I got to be more useful to you.

After some negotiating with him Kamo agreed to perform the ritual for us.

When I learned what we had to do I can’t say I wasn’t nervous…

Nervous?  It was just a k-kiss.  Not like I lost my first kiss during a stupid pactio or anything.

I think it’s safe to say we were all a bit embarrassed by the prospects of having to kiss.  But that’s what it takes to form a pactio, and I would not be deterred.

So what did you plan on doing if we refused?

Karen’s too nice to say no.  I’d probably just trick you into doing it if you said no.

WHY DON”T YOU JUST GO DIE FOR ME!

I might have gone too far with that one.  Anyway, with our pactios set I was sure we could assist Negi in getting the drop on Evangeline.  But when I confronted her she simply laughed at my face, telling me it would take eons to even begin thinking about making threats like that to her.  It made be upset, but then I realized that she probably lived so much longer than I have even combining all of my jumps.  I let her in that my own abilities were sealed to a certain extent and she laughed at me again.  But this time she had a look of pity on her face.  I managed to have a conversation with her and she told me a few things about herself.  Not much of use besides who cursed her (Negi’s father, the Thousand Master) and how long she had been at Mahora due to her curse.

I decided attacking someone whose powers were sealed more than mine would leave a bad taste in my mouth and let her be for a while.  Alice insisted that she become Evangeline’s disciple, but was turned down.

I wasn’t turned down!  She simply didn’t realize that I’m worthy of being her student yet.

So Alice was turned down by her.  A number of days passed before her plan came into action.  It seems that the seal on her power is controlled through the school’s own electricity.  So when the power got turned off for maintenance she regained a substantial amount of power.  I would have helped Negi fight her, but I had my hands full keeping the students that fell under Evangeline’s control away from Negi.  The main problem was Karen.

I-I’m really sorry I was made into one of Evangeline’s minions.  I don’t remember anything about it, but you had some injuries I’m sure I caused.

I also felt that Negi had to settle things with Evangeline himself to continue growing.  So I didn’t feel too bad missing the confrontation with the first boss to test my skills against Karen.  While she’s definitely stronger than me I managed to beat her with my skills in hand to hand combat and the shundo (instant movement) technique.

Just going to forget that I was there dealing with the rest of the controlled students?

I guess you were there too, weren’t you Alice?  I wouldn’t have been able to take them all on by myself with Karen on their side.  You make a great partner.

Whatever.  Don’t know why I formed a pactio with someone not even strong enough to take on a few middle school girls.  You should just go die.

Negi managed to beat Evangeline and Chachamaru with the help of Asuna, who he formed a pactio with.  When all was said and done Evangeline seemed to have greater respect for Negi and even the three of us as well.  She even gave Negi a lead to finding his father.

It was nice of her to do that.

She only did it because he tricked her into thinking his father is still alive.

It probably wasn’t a trick.  Anyway, the thing everyone is looking forward to is the trip to Kyoto, where the lead Eva told Negi is at.
