Jump 3 MMBN: The Jump - Battle Network 2

It had been two months since the Zero Virus incident and I’d enjoyed the peace.  When I wasn’t slowly amassing an organization filled with some of the lowest scum of the UnderNet with the purpose of helping stop any world crisis, I was battling with friendly Navis and spending time in my Warehouse.  I played through Battle Network and Network Transmission just to see what’s supposed to happen without my intervention, and was tempted to get knowledge of the future, but decided that would ruin the fun.  The first order of business was watching MegaMan and friends become recognized city net battlers.  I watched on with mild curiosity as they took the simple test.  I decided to take it myself for fun.  I had Lan cover as my operator so unnecessary questions wouldn’t be asked.  After we all received our Zlicense, Glyde had sent a distress call to us.  Yai had been in the bath for too long and he was worried about her.  Without any more prompting, everyone agreed to go.  I hitched a ride in Lan’s PET so I could arrive on time for once.

Dex broke the door down when we didn’t get any answer at the door and rushed in without a plan.  Within five minutes Lan decided to also go in, albeit with more caution than Dex.  We found him passed out surrounded by fumes.  Lan jacked us in and we set about investigating the problems with Yai’s ventilation system.  After snooping around and fixing most of the issues we encounted AirMan.

He seemed fairly weak so I let MegaMan handle him on his own.  The fight was nothing memorable unfortunately.  I was hoping he’d surprise me after boasting that we couldn’t defeat him.  Regardless we succeeded in saving Yai from the dangerous gas AirMan was causing her vents to spew.

The next thing of note was the…camping trip.  I don’t know how Lan convinced me it would be a good idea but I ended up inside his PET sharing space with MegaMan.  Everyone seemed to be busy though, so we fought GutsMan for fun since Dex had to watch the house before deciding on upgrading our ZLicenses to BLicenses.  Before we did that MegaMan and I each had a friendly battle with ToadMan, the Navi of a notable reporter.  The test proved effortless to both MegaMan and I and we easily received our BLicenses.  I opted to stay with Lan and MegaMan since everyone agreed to go camping the next day.

True to form Lan wakes up late for the camp and we rushed to catch the bus.  When we arrived at the campsite Chaud was there for some reason.  I hadn’t thought he considered Lan a friend but perhaps I was mistaken.  There were a few obstacles along the way, bees and a robotic bear, but we handled them well.  After everyone spent some time relaxing and the operators starting eating without Chaud an explosion was heard from the direction of the dam.

Once we reached the dam Chaud called Lan and let him know what was going on.  We ran around like crazy looking for the bomb defusing program.  After defusing some of the bombs our search led us to QuickMan.  He was the Navi behind the bombs. When we were about to delete him he tried to trick us by claiming that the bombs would go off even if we deleted him.  ProtoMan saw through the lies and swooped in to deliver the final blow.

Sometime after Lan had an urge to travel to YumL for whatever reason and needed an ALicense to do so.  To take the test MegaMan and I had to first make ourselves known by completing requests from the official square.  After helping people in need we passed the test without any problems.  We went to YumLand and encountered CutMan, a Navi affiliated with Gospel, a criminal organization.  He was tasked with eliminating survivors of an attack on YumLand and in my rage I ended up making him suffer quite a bit before deleting him.

I left MegaMan and Lan shortly afterwards.  I was grateful that they treated me like I was also a part of their team, but I had stopped doing what I had set out to do in the first place.  Protect the world from the shadows.  I said my farewells and assured them that we’d meet again before going back to roaming the Internet in search of clues.

My efforts proved to assist Lan and MegaMan in an indirect way as I waged a mini war against Gospel.  While MegaMan and Lan were fighting the bosses I was lessening Gospel’s influence by thinning out their ranks.  I unfortunately learned about their plan to make the Ultimate Navi too late to do anything to stop it.  But I did find out what they were using as a base.  It was the Navi I encountered three months ago absorbing some of the Life Virus’ data.  I heard about Lan’s adventures Netopia and regretted not staying with him, but I knew that I wasn’t meant to be there.  I was impressed at the upgrade MegaMan received from Lan’s father; the “Style Change”.  It seemed like a very useful ability to have.  I met up with MegaMan in the UnderNet and aided him in locating and defeating FreezeMan.

Just like the event 3 months ago, Lan and MegaMan were at the epicenter of the events.  Trouble really does seem to follow this kid.  I decided to come with for what I saw to be the final confrontation with Gospel.  I helped the two battle the Gospel Navis again and we made short work of them.  I chose to keep the information I had found out a secret, so it came as a shock to Lan and MegaMan when Bass showed up and Gospel’s leader proclaimed him to be the ultimate Navi they were working on.  I was aware that it was nothing more than a clone, but it still possessed impressive power.  After working with MegaMan to take the clone down Gospel’s leader did something insane.  He attempted to fuse the real world and the net together and succeeded on a small scale.  Lan and MegaMan achieved something called Full Synchro, where their minds, hearts and perhaps even their souls merge and are in perfect harmony. The fake Bass had transformed into a giant dog like monster that we ended up referring to as Gospel.  I was confident I could take it myself, but this isn’t my story.  So I left the finale up to the real heroes of this world.

When all is said and done, those two can rise above all the odds and overcome anything.  If I ever took the time to battle them I’m sure at some point they’d surpass me.  So I chose to wait until I was sure they reached the peak of their power, and I mine.  Gospel was taken down, it’s leader reformed and now a friend of Lan.  These two just love helping people reform.  I wandered the net some more as I always did after a major incident was resolved.  I found a variety of Navis in various places and defeated them all.  I even got to have a rematch with the real Bass when I found him destroying some of the remaining clones.  Suffice to say he had gotten stronger in the past three months.  We fought to a standstill again and agreed to try and settle this another time.  With the Gospel incident over my mind can’t help but wonder if the kid that commanded Gospel was being manipulated.  It was something to look into at a later date however.
